This short, high-altitude trail focuses purely on the final summit push of Mount Kaliakouda (2,101 m), starting directly from the mountain pass. Reaching the pass starting point via the mountain dirt road from Megalo Chorio strictly requires a capable 4x4 or high-clearance AWD vehicle due to the rough terrain.

From the pass, the trail climbs immediately into open alpine terrain along the mountain’s upper ridge line. The gradient is steep throughout, crossing scree and rocky sections that require careful footwork and balance. While no climbing gear or fixed ropes are needed, the terrain includes some short technical passages that can feel intimidating, particularly on the descent. Reaching the peak rewards you with breathtaking 360-degree views across Evrytania’s rugged mountain ranges and deep river valleys.

    Author’s recommendation

Driving to the pass cuts out the forest climb, but don't underestimate the upper ridge! Take your time on the descent and ensure your 4x4 is in good condition before heading up the dirt road.
