3- or 4-day hut route on the third highest mountain of the High Atlas in Morocco (T3).
The third highest mountain in Morocco and the High Atlas is Jebel or Ighil M'Goun. It stands 100 km east of the other 4000 m peaks of the High Atlas, which all belong to the Toubkal group. M'Goun is a 10 km long mountain ridge averaging 3500 - 4000 m in height. Noticeable are the numerous U-shaped valleys on the north flank of the mountain, where glaciers once existed thousands of years ago. M'Goun is not as easy to reach as Toubkal and is therefore less visited. For a summit ascent including arrival and departure, plan at least 4 days. The stages can be spread over 2 or 4 days. Overnight stays are in the huts Gîte La Tulipe d'Ikiss and Refuge Tarkddite; with early reservation of sleeping places, no tent is necessary. Unlike Toubkal, no guide is required for M'Goun. There are fewer offers focusing solely on the summit ascent but many offers for multi-day trekking.
