Hörner group and Nagelfluh chain (3.5 days)
Author’s recommendation
The detour to Ostertaltobel is worth it!
Before the route, inquire which alpine huts are open if you want to take a cozy break with a drink along the way.

Roadbook
Day 1 (evening after arrival)
0 - 4 km (4 km)
From Blaichach train station through the valley of the Gunzesrieder Ach (partly dammed for a hydroelectric power plant), overnight at Gästehaus Stangl (there are of course many other guest rooms in Gunzesried, then you can continue walking in the valley).
Day 2
4 - 20 km (16 km)
to Gunzesried and along the slopes to Kamin-Eck. At the end of the village, left onto the beautiful path through the ravine. After the exit, through the forest up to Ofterschwanger Horn, through the meadows a detour to the scenic summit. Refreshment option at Fahnengehren-Alpe. Continue around Sigiswanger Horn and up to Rangiswanger Horn. The next summit is Weiherkopf. A small forest path leads to Großer Ochsenkopf. Overnight at Berghaus Schwaben.
Day 3
20 - 35 km (15 km)
Back onto the ridge and along it towards Riedbergerhorn. Continue along the north ridge over small summits to Obere Wilhelmine-Alpe (due to extremely bad weather, I skipped Höllritzereck and Bleiherhorn and sought refuge at Höllritzer Alpe). With some steep sections, a small path leads to Siplingerkopf and along the ridge (once a small climbing section) to Heidenkopf. Down north to Scheidwang-Alpe. Over Obergelchenwang-Alpe and the southern slopes of Hochgrat to the upper station of Hochgratbahn cable car. A few meters further is the DAV hut Staufner Haus.
Day 4
35 - 55 km (20 km)
Today is the classic stage of the Nagelfluh chain with a lot of ups and downs. Much has already been said about this. Some fitness and sure-footedness are required, otherwise the path is not particularly difficult. The ladder at Steineberg can be easily bypassed. If you are not too late, you can take the noon cable car to save your knees.
