You start with a meditative approach along the morning Steyr, which is always quite cool even on summer days.
Then the ascent to the Lögerhütte is steep and not exactly lonely, as it belongs to the popular "Dolomitensteig," but very nicely laid out, pleasantly shady, and therefore also well suited for midsummer.
The continuation to the Hochsteinscharte is even steeper and not always easy to find, but very secluded.
Afterwards, you are at least as secluded on path traces all the way to the summit of the Hirscheck, sometimes hard to spot, initially also leading through heavily overgrown mountain pine gullies. The last section of the route before the summit presents a magnificent rock backdrop without technical difficulties.
Impressive is the magnificent panoramic view of the Stodertal mountain chain, which changes continuously from the Hochsteinscharte over the Hirscheck to the Schafferreith.

This route has no technical difficulties, but it requires good navigation skills, as it runs for long stretches on unmarked paths (almost) without trail signs.
Therefore, the use of GPS with a track is recommended.

From the Bärenalm parking lot, cross the bridge over the Steyr river and then follow the signposts to the left ("Baumschlagerreith"). Along the young Steyr, you go downstream and soon first views of the Hirscheck open up through the trees on the left, which appears quite inconspicuous from here. After some time the gravel path reaches a bridge, leading back to the other bank of the Steyr and shortly afterwards turns sharply left to reach the road. Follow this about 200 m to the right and a few meters after a wooden bridge turn left onto a forest road. Soon the forest road leads uphill and where it would turn left and cross the stream, keep right at the fork and follow a pull path uphill. Soon you reach another forest road, turn left, and are now on the well-marked "Dolomitensteig". From here, follow the markings and signs ("hiking trail") up to the Lögerhütte.
Above the Lögerhütte, ascend along the right edge of a steep meadow almost to its upper end, past the wooden posts of a former cross-fence, and at the top meet a clear path trail leading right into a larch forest mixed with mountain pines. The dark soil path crosses a very steep grassy channel and then continues somewhat flatter to the right through sparse larch trees and mountain pines until it passes over a V-shaped cut water channel. On the other side of the channel, ascent continues in zigzags, where the path is well defined and leads higher through dense mountain pine. You cross another water channel with a rocky base and follow its rugged edge very steeply uphill for a bit, then make a right traverse on a distinct path into the larch forest. The path runs diagonally right, crosses another channel, soon becomes steeper again, and snakes higher through mountain pine growth, crossing further faintly formed channels. Finally, through dense mountain pines and almost flat, you reach a viewpoint where you see the Hochsteinscharte directly opposite and the Almkogel in front of you. The further course of the path is visible, where you must be careful in a short rocky section not to go too low. Soon the exit is reached a few meters above the notch.
From the Hochsteinscharte, turn east along the flat mountain ridge and ascend on the far left past the mountain pines up to the rock outcrops (cairn) and over these to a small rock wall, then go right under it. Then follow a very steep mountain pine gully up to the left that leads to a broad saddle. From this saddle, follow the clear path traces on the other side slightly downhill into a dense mountain pine field. At a path junction, instead of going left, continue straight through a clearly cut mountain pine gully. After a larch, this gully bends right and leads uphill until it reaches the ridge with a meadow clearing. From here, go left first directly along the ridge, partly through gullies in dense mountain pines, later slightly right from the ridge over mountain pine-covered meadows to a cross notch beneath a distinctive rock tower, up which you must climb very steeply for a few meters. Behind it, a short mountain pine gully leads down to a broad meadow saddle with a striking erosion area on its right side. The following mountain pine fields are bypassed at their left edge and follow the ridge uphill until just below the cliff base, where after a large cairn a clear path leads right across a scree slope. Further cairns mark the way along a rocky traverse and over several steep channels. From the next saddle, the summit of the Hirscheck is visible for the first time. You continue under the mountain pines back onto the ridge, which is gentle and meadow-like here, then follow the path traces on the right side up to a rocky notch. Behind it, gently descend left and then ascend back to the main ridge, which you follow up to the left until you reach a pronounced subpeak. On its backside, descend through rocky terrain to another saddle. From there, a clear path leads left around the summit of the Hirscheck, which you finally ascend on its east side.
For the descent to the Türkenkarscharte, follow the ridge east, the same route you ascended last, and continue on a clearly marked path until it turns right downwards. The cairn-marked path leads down a mountain meadow and reaches the mountain pines, where it soon turns left to approach the already clearly visible Türkenkarscharte. At the notch, you meet a marked hiking trail and follow it back to the Bärenalm parking lot, not without stopping at the Schafferreith, which is open in summer.
