Hike to the Oberwalderhütte in the Hohe Tauern
Magnificent views
The ascent to the Oberwalderhütte offers sensational views of the northern face of the Großglockner and the glacier fields of the Pasterze.
The path to the Oberwalderhütte could not be more technically varied: up to the Gamsgrube, it leads along a roughly three-meter-wide service road, then continues over glacial polishing slabs and glacier remnants to the Großer Burgstall, which is overcome by a secured path up to the Oberwalderhütte. Light crampons and poles should always be brought for safety. The ascent is rewarded by magnificent close-up views of the wild glacier landscape in the heart of the Glockner group.
