This crossing over the three rock summits Oberstdorfer Hammerspitze, Hochgehrenspitze, and Walser Hammerspitze is an absolute highlight of a mountain route. This jagged rock ridge also marks the border between Oberstdorf in the Allgäu (Germany) and Mittelberg in the Kleinwalsertal (Austria). Most of the altitude is overcome by the Kanzelwand gondola without any effort. From the mountain station, this round leads over several, partly managed alpine huts to the Fiderepass hut, where the Mindelheimer via ferrata also begins. The same ridge leads back much less frequented but also less secure to the Kanzelwand. A long-standing discussion about the naming of the mountain summits, which is Schüsser and which is Hammerspitze, was ended with a new regulation in the course of the reissue of the AV map. Since then, the two summits have been called Oberstdorfer Hammerspitze and Walser Hammerspitze.
