Half of the Hochgrat chain
Traverse of the western Hochgrat chain from the Brunnauscharte to the Hochhäderich (T4-).
The Hochgrat is a 23 km long mountain ridge made of Nagelfluh in the northern Allgäu Alps. The area is very well developed with cable cars, buses, and huts, allowing for arbitrarily long ridge hikes to be put together. This route leads via probably the most beautiful ascent to the Hochgrat chain; the alpine trail to Brunnauscharte fascinates with numerous waterfalls. From the highest summit of the ridge, we then hike to the westernmost and last summit of the chain, the Hochhäderich, and descend from there to the Hörmoos, where a hiking bus takes us back. There are several alternative descents along the way if you want to shorten the route and numerous opportunities to stop for refreshment along the way.
