Access from Percha via Tesselberg towards Mühlbach, shortly before the valley stream of the same name turn right and go a short way into the Mühlbach valley on a small road to the large car park (approx. 1600 m). From there on foot follow the marking 5/2 downstream to the guesthouse Mühlbacher Badl (1694 m), continue on the wide path into the Oberbacheralm, to the Huberalm (1852 m, refreshment stop) and via the Unterwangeralm up to the Oberwangeralm (2027 m); now follow trail 5 and the signposting "Windschar" over grassy slopes and crags, partly very steeply up to a long, shoulder-like ridge stretching from the Grubscharte (2802 m) towards the summit, cross this westwards to the foot of the steep east face of the mountain and climb it on the marked rock path which is not difficult to the summit (3041 m; about 3 hours from Oberwangeralm). – Descent: Via the described ascent route.
