It is interesting that the Kleine Pal is higher than the Großer Pal. From the still remaining partly overgrown positions and trenches, it is possible to sense how senselessly blood was shed during the First World War.Roadbook
First, you go over a forest road above the Angerbaches on path number 436 past a soldiers' cemetery along a poor marking in a short forest area to a forest road that runs on the Austrian side below the Großer Pal. According to the track, it led through the bushes to the right up to the border along a narrow path. Now follow the border line to the summit. Along the border, mostly on the Italian side next to trenches from the First World War with some deviations down to the Rossbodentörl. The last part down is very steep, somewhat rocky, overgrown with bushes, and without trail traces, so demanding. Due to the bushes, we gauged the best possibilities instinctively to stay as close as possible to the border line. Those unfamiliar with maps should best descend on the Italian side and return on the path there. The remains of the First World War are arranged like a museum at Rossbodentörl. From there, it gently descends on a path back to the forest road that was ascended. From now on, follow the forest road past the nearby war cemeteries back to the starting point.
