Safety information
The trail from the Eisenerzerhöhe to the Radstattmaieralm is partly easy to lose despite the red paint spots. There are many game trails that can easily be confused with the trail. Be sure to pay attention to the red paint spots and small cairns. In summer, the trail is sometimes hard to find due to tall grass. Do not undertake the route in poor visibility!!!Roadbook
From Hinterwildalpen, follow path 828 to the Eisenerzerhöhe. A few meters after the wayside cross with the image of Mary, at a cairn with a red paint spot, turn right and follow the trail with red markers. The trail leads over the Geierboden, past below the Kl. Geiger, and with a short descent into a saddle; from here, ascend over rock steps to the summit of the Gr. Geiger. From the summit of the Gr. Geiger, head west through dwarf pines, also marked with red paint spots, passing over the Gr. Wasserkogel and the Winterhöhe to the Radstattmaieralm (Heimmoseralm). Here you meet path 816B, which leads via the Pumperlhochalm (ruined) into the Lurggraben and further back to Hinterwildalpen.
