Großen Hinterhorn-Mitterhorn from the Lastal valley

Ascent from the forest parking lot in Weißleiten (St. Ulrich am Pillersee). Follow the forest road to a fountain (here you can draw water). Then the path turns into a trail and leads through a stream bed into the forest. Up over a ridge, still wooded, to a hut (approx. 500m elevation gain). Now the trail becomes rockier and steeper, leading in switchbacks to the junction "Klettersteig nackter Hund" (another 500m elevation gain). Here keep left into the rocky terrain, continuing on the path. The marking is very good, you have no problem following the trail. Occasionally a handhold on the rocks, steadily ascending to a kind of rock nose (approx. 2500m). Here you have a great view of the valley. Continuing on the trail it becomes increasingly rocky. A small via ferrata A/B with ladders offers variety. Of course, you can also follow the normal route. Continue on the Nuaracher Höhenweg to the junction at Mitterhorn. Follow this up, past the Mitterhorn to the Großen Hinterhorn, always keeping the goal in sight.
