Completely easy and also suitable for families hike. Wide panoramic view is guaranteed in good weather from the Great Königstuhl, but also busy visits of the summit which is easily accessible from several sides. Return route with three easy ascents over the Friesenhöhe, Seenock and the Sauereggnock and Stubennock back to the starting point.
The Great Königstuhl is located at the tri-border point Salzburg-Carinthia-Styria.

From the Dr. Josef Merl Hut, go back along the road and then turn left into the Kremstal (trail 126). Over the Esslalm it comfortably goes on the wide hiking trail to the alpine pastures of the Rosaninalm. Then somewhat steeper up to the Rosaninsee (2057 m), which is circled on the east side. Now up in several hairpin bends to the Königstuhlscharte, where you meet trail 125. Follow this to the left in numerous gentle bends up to the summit of the Great Königstuhl.
Back to the Königstuhlscharte, continue on trail 125 over the Friesenhöhe, the Seenock, the Sauereggnock, Stubennock and descend to the Dr. Josef Mehrl Hut.
