If the second difficulty ridge is too challenging without a rope, the Mittlere Arnspitze can be bypassed without climbing.

Roadbook
Start in Mittenwald:
In Mittenwald, head north of the Isar bridge to the entrance of the Leutasch gorge. From there, continue straight ahead along the forest road. The Große Arnspitze is already signposted here. After a short time, leave the forest road and enter the forest (signposted again). The path is very frequent and well marked. Once there is a turn-off without a sign and both paths are marked. We didn't go straight on, but uphill to the right and reached our destination, the ridge between Schartenkopf and Riedkopf. We pass a small, hidden hut and continue to the Riedkopf. You can see boundary stones from time to time along the way.
Riedkopf:
The Große Arnspitze is clearly visible from the Riedkopf, as is the path to it.
Achterköpfe:
The Achterköpfe are left to the right in the walking direction. A barren-looking slope is crossed. The Arnspitzhütte (bivouac) can then be seen. From there, the trail climbs steeply to the right. Once you reach the memorial plaques, turn right again to the summit.
Great Arnspitze:
First we go downhill again to the memorial plaques. Then continue to the clearly visible Mittlere Arnspitze. Here you orientate yourself primarily along the ridge. From time to time, you can also recognise slight markings and a path.
At the lowest point of the ridge, the "evil band" is visible (see photos). Climb up there for a few metres and then follow the ledge to the left until you reach a small cirque. From there, climb up to the wall, where you should again see markings. Follow these until you reach a small gully. From here, head straight up to the yoke. From the yoke, it is only a few more holds and footholds to the summit of the Mittlere Arnspitze.
If the second difficulty ridge is too challenging without a rope, the Mittlere Arnspitze can be bypassed without climbing.
Mittlere Arnspitze:
Significantly easier, but still very exposed, the route leads downhill along visible markings in the direction of Arnplattenspitze. Once you have mastered the steep, rocky section, you still have to brave some mountain pines on the way to the summit. The last few metres are then the striking limestone slabs.
Arnplattenspitze:
The rest of the trail is clearly visible from the Arnplattenspitze. It runs along a ridge overgrown with mountain pines. Following this, you cross the Weißlehnkopf, the Arnkopf and the Zwirchkopf . There are also numerous and good markings here.
Last but not least:
Last but not least, the trail descends a steep forest slope from the Zwirchkopf. This path is a real strain on the knees and concentration. Falls should be avoided here at all costs! However, this path is well marked and hopefully you will arrive safely at the bottom in Ahrn, where the Rodenbahn "Hoher Sattel" starts.
