Grasleiten Hut

We start from the Weisslahnbad parking lot, hike to the Tschamin Schwaige, and follow Hiking Trail No. 3 uphill until we reach the forest road. From there, we take a leisurely walk into the Tschamin Valley. Passing the Schwarzen Letten and Schafer Leger, we reach the Rechten Leger after about 1 1/2 hours. Here you’ll find a beautiful meadow, nestled among towering mountain walls, and if you have a keen eye, you can already spot the Grasleitenhütte.
We follow Hiking Trail No. 3 until we reach the Bärenloch junction, where we turn right onto Trail No. 3A until we see the flag of the Grasleitenhütte. Here we reach the highest point of our hike and look back once more into the Tschamin Valley. Upon arriving at the Grasleitenhütte, we’re greeted by the hut owner’s goats.
After a snack and a shot of schnapps, we head back down the same path into the valley until we reach the Weisslahnbad parking lot.
Tips for the hike: There are frequent sources of fresh spring water along the route all the way to Rechten Leger. A visit to the “Steger Säge” nature park center at Tschamin Schwaige is also recommended (check opening hours).
