In this mountain route in the beautiful Vorderkarwendel, we start east of the Sylvenstein reservoir heading south. After a flat start, it soon goes up many switchbacks and quite steeply to the ridge between Grammersberg and Grasköpfl. In the second part, the path leads us along the ridge up to the summit, where we were completely alone. The descent is via the same path.

    Author’s recommendation

After a successful route, a cool down in the Sylvenstein reservoir feels really good.

    Safety information

If you take the wrong path before the creek crossing, it eventually ends in steep forest terrain. So be careful!

    Roadbook

We start at the parking lot about 1 km southwest of Fall heading south, first on a fairly flat natural path that crosses a road twice. This leads us to the foot of the mountain massif, where the path turns left and leads up the mountain in increasingly steep switchbacks. At about 1040m elevation, some sense of direction is needed. Here, a path branches off to the right, which is much more visible. However, we keep left and finally cross a creek. Afterwards, it continues again in steep switchbacks further upward towards the southeast up to the ridge between Grammersberg and Grasköpfl. Upon reaching the top, we now follow the path to the right, which leads us along the ridge to the summit. The descent takes place on the same route.
