The Gentersberg crossing is a long route between the Penser and the Durnholzer valleys. Our path weaves through beautiful scenic peaks with constant ups and downs.
The Gentersberg crossing is a demanding mountain hike for fit hikers and "rewards" us with nine beautiful summit experiences and wonderful panoramic views. A short secured section is located north of the Radelspitz. We start our route at the beautiful church in Durnholz and follow the path (No. 12) through the sun-exposed dwarf pine fields to the Durnholzer Jöchl (2235 m). Now we climb steeply via path (No. 17) to the first summit of the route, the Karnspitz (2320 m), and follow the path, with constant small ascents and descents, along the ridge of the Sarner middle ridge. The route is varied, sometimes narrow and rocky, sometimes wide and comfortable. It leads us to the Gentersberg peak (2393 m), the Hurler (2405 m), and the Kallmanspitze (2398 m). At the Kallmanjöchl, the route continues steeply over a short secured rock passage to the Radelspitze (2403 m) and soon we reach the Leiterspitze (2375 m), the last summit of our ridge crossing.
