The crossing of the three summits of the Geierköpfe is a technically demanding and scenically impressive mountain route for experts. With some luck, you have most of the route to yourself, as the east and main summits are rarely visited. Only the west summit is a popular destination for hikers, as it is accessible via a hiking path without major technical difficulties. The route takes us through steep rocky terrain, over slopes covered with dwarf pines, and partly over scree at the top of the mountain. On the airy ridge, our path is often exposed, and we have to overcome several climbing sections (max. II) on brittle rock. However, the view from the ridge rewards all the effort. Especially to the north, the rock walls drop steeply and offer a view of Hochplatte, Säuling, and the Ammergau Alps. To the southeast, the broad ridge of the Zugspitze dominates the horizon, and from the west summit, the elongated Plansee lies at our feet, surrounded by many peaks of the Tyrolean Alps.
