Solitary circular route over the Gauschla from the Malans side.
The Gauschla is the southernmost two-thousander of the Alvier range and thus offers an unobstructed view of the Rhine Valley and Lake Walen. In contrast to the well-known neighboring peak Alvier, it is rather little visited because there is no official hiking trail leading up. However, there is a distinct trail in the steep summit flank. The Gauschla can be reached via several routes, which can be combined into a round trip. The tour presented here combines the pathless ascent over the Alp Flidaböden with a descent via old trails to the Schaner Alp. The Gauschla is also accessible from Palfries via the Chemmi; this variant is often combined with the Alvier.
