Beautiful very varied circular route with light climbing sections in ascent and descent and a fantastic panoramic view of Churfürsten, Wildhauser Schafberg and Säntis. Absolute sure-footedness is necessary for this route. The ridge section from Schlofstein to Windenpass is rated as T3. This means it is not a normal hiking trail. This section is partly exposed and you sometimes have to use your hands for climbing up and down. At the approach to Schlofstein we had beautiful flower meadows in early June with orchids, devil's claw, gentian, snake knotweed, etc.

We did the route one day after a rainy day, so some parts on the ridge were muddy and slippery. Therefore, it is better to plan the route 2-3 days after a rainy day.

From Stein over field paths, meadows and footpaths up to Schofstein. This section is easy for every hiker. From Schlofstein to Windenpass very varied ridge route with some short climbing sections both in ascent and descent which can be very unpleasant in wet conditions. Slipping is not an option in some places. This section is rated as mountain hiking T3 difficulty. Sure-footedness is an absolute must. The view from the ridge is really fantastic. For mountain hikers who master T3, this is an absolute dream route. From Windenpass then normal easy hiking paths back to the starting point.
