The descent from the high camp at Simba Tarn via the beautifully located Shipton’s Camp and the elongated high valley blessed with magnificent nature down to Camp Old Moses is once again a spectacular landscape and nature experience. The dreamlike scenery of the Mount Kenya massif at the beginning of the descent, with the mighty rock walls and the fantastic groundsels forests – probably the most impressive and distinctive in the entire national park – provide an intense nature experience with unforgettable impressions.

From the high camp at Simba Tarn, the path first leads about 50 m above the plateau edge towards the north. From the ridge, there is a fantastic view over the long valley with the further descent path. First, the trail leads over steep and partly rocky, high alpine terrain, about 400 m down to the wonderfully located Shipton’s Camp. It is located directly in front of the highest rock walls and the mighty peaks of the Mount Kenya massif, with a fantastic view of the ice grooves of the ascent routes to the Batian summit.
