Rifugio PanarottaRoadbook
From the large parking lot of the Panarotta 2002 ski area we briefly follow the piste road in a left loop up to the Rifugio Panarotta. Here we leave the piste and hike along a path on the wooded ridge around some boulders and finally again along the piste to the top station of the cable car. A cart track leads up to the transmission facilities. Behind the radio tower a mountain path leads in a short right curve up to the large summit cross of Monte Panarotta. A memorial cross, an artillery position and a long trench from World War I mark the descent along the broad north ridge. With moderate slope it goes down into the wide grassy saddle La Bassa. The broad forest ridge to the forepeak of Fravort is overcome on the western flank past some caverns and positions. We reach the flat grassy summit La Fontanella. A short descent leads to the base of the huge, grassy south slope. This is climbed northwards in a very direct line. We arrive in a slight right curve to the rocky southwest ridge, which finally leads over single boulders and slabs to the summit plateau of Fravort with a metal cross. In the summit area there are positions from World War I with a table and wooden bench for resting.
Return path along the ascent, whereby from La Bassa the gravel road on the western flank of Monte Panarotta can be chosen back to the starting point.
