Fellhorn Summit Route

By taking the ride with the Oberstdorf cable car, you can conveniently reach the summit region of the Allgäu Alps. Those who take the gondola up to the summit station can climb the Fellhorn summit in about 15 minutes on a well-developed path. However, on this route we leave the cable car already at the middle station and tackle the remaining elevation to the summit under our own power. The view rewards us with panoramic views from the main ridge of the Allgäu to the lowlands. Where skiers flock to the well-maintained slopes in winter, hikers and cows on the two alpine meadows Schlappold and Bierenwang rule the scene in summer. You should be somewhat sure-footed on the western passage over the ridge from the Sennalpe Schlappold to the Fellhorn summit, as the ridge is partly narrow and exposed. The rest of the route is unproblematic. This route is the best you can do up here.
