CAMINS
This magnificent itinerary marked with GR211 signs starts at Baqueira, in Val de Ruda. It is a clear example of the glacial-origin valleys shaping the Val d’Aran landscape and ascends to the Saboredo lake cirque, considered by some as the birthplace of the Garona river. The sides of Saboredo are among the most beautiful and spectacular high mountain landscapes.
After passing the Saboredo refuge, Lac deth Miei and Lac de Naut, we continue the trail until reaching Port de Ratera (2,572 m). This pass connects the Aiguamòg Valley with Val de Ruda and Ratera – Sant Maurici Valley. The Tucs de Ratèra and de Bergús, and in front of us, descending, the Cometes de Ratèra and, further on, the Sant Maurici lake and Els Encantats. Following the GR11 marks, we reach Estany de Ratera and Estany de Sant Maurici, where we take the National Park taxis that take us to Espot.

Equipment
MOUNTAIN FOOTWEAR (mountain boot or shoe)
At each stage and depending on the terrain condition and/or weather forecast, the recommended height of the footwear (boot or shoe) will be indicated.
CLOTHING
As the routes pass through mid and high mountain environments, and since the climate can change rapidly and drastically, we RECOMMEND the following items regardless of the route difficulty:
- Long trousers. If the route characteristics and expected weather allow the use of shorts, carry a piece to cover the exposed lower leg, either a second pair of trousers or long leggings in the backpack in all cases.
- First layer torso (t-shirt) with short sleeves, breathable and quick drying (tank tops are not recommended as they are unsuitable for carrying backpacks).
- Second layer torso, thermal layer consisting of a thin/medium fleece or long-sleeve thermal shirt.
- Third layer torso, waterproof and windproof rain jacket with hood.
- Cap / Buff or similar for sun protection.
Even if some of these garments are not used during the itinerary, it is recommended to carry them in the backpack throughout the route, ready to use in case of weather changes or any unforeseen event to avoid hypothermia if the weather changes or if an incident causes the journey to be extended.
MINIMUM BACKPACK CONTENT
- Mountain backpack of 20-30 liters with its waterproof cover.
- Personal first aid kit with special medications if required.
- Water (minimum 2 liters, but this will be confirmed during the briefing).
- Food (according to the route duration).
- Sunscreen, cap/hat and sunglasses.
- Documentation and charged phone.
