Roadbook
(1) The path initially starts on a wide forest road and goes steeply uphill. Soon, you can leave the wide forest road and switch to a trail. This path first leads through forest and then above the tree line over the Baltschebach. After crossing it, the route continues over meadows and larch fields, steadily uphill. After about three hours, you reach the Hermann von Barth Hut.
(2) From the Hermann von Barth Hut, you head towards the Wolfebnerkar and through it, below the Wolfebnerspitzen, until you then follow the path or trail markings steeply right through scree. You have to climb quite steeply through the scree and reach the Wolfebnerscharte at the top. Here you turn left, and it continues partly with easy climbing (UIAA I) always further towards the summit of the eastern Plattenspitze. You reach it after about 1-1.5 hours from the hut. The final summit ascent is secured with a steel cable. Also here, the climbing difficulty is at most UIAA I. From the summit of the Plattenspitze, you have a good all-around view. You can see, for example, the Hochvogel, the Kreuzspitze, even the Nebelhorn, and the Schneck...
(3) The descent to the Hermann von Barth Hut follows the same route as the ascent.
(4) The descent to Elbigenalp goes through the Birgertal and then through the Bernhardstal. If you come from the Wolfebnerkar and turn right at the hut, you are on the correct path. Following this path, it goes downhill. Partly over rocky terrain that requires surefootedness. At the bottom, it continues on a forest road back to Elbigenalp.
