On this challenging mountain route, we ascend over green meadows and rocky ridges to the Gartnerwand. A head for heights is a prerequisite here.
The mountain route to the Gartnerwand offers magnificent views of the Mieminger Chain, the Ammergau Alps, and the Zugspitze massif. The varied trail leads us under shady trees, over blooming mountain meadows, and along steep rocks. Along the way, we overcome some elevation that is physically demanding and requires surefootedness as well as a head for heights. From the rustic small village of Bichlbächle, we first hike over the Bichlbächler Alpe to the Sommerberg-Jöchle. From here it becomes rocky and we have to do some climbing to reach the Gartnerwand. We walk a good stretch along a ridge. Only below the Bichlbächler-Jöchle does our descent become easier again.
