Crossing from Tegernseer Hütte to Brauneck summit house

From the Tegernseer Hütte, descend north into the Latschenkessel and then turn left to cross westward to the ridge south of the Roßstein-Alm. Continue north to the Roßsteinalm and from there first along a wide forest road until the narrow path to Mariaeck (trail 621) branches off to the right. This now crosses over alpine meadows and sparse forest to the forest saddle Mariaeck (1469 m).

Here you now follow the descent westward toward Fleck, initially walking through a beautiful valley with meadows and then increasingly through forest. The partly rocky path crosses or skirts forest roads and after crossing a stream finally reaches a wide forest road. Follow this for a long stretch northwest. At a distinctive left curve, continue following the forest road (i.e., not straight ahead onto the footpath toward Mühlbach) and thus descend south to the Almbach, which the road crosses. On the other side, continue west to the hiking car park at the edge of the forest.

Here, follow a forest road north, which first still runs through forest area, then across open meadows to a large farm. Here turn left and go to the wide B1 road. Parallel to it, follow forest roads north, then turn left to cross the Isar on the wide road bridge.

On the other side, you reach the Wegscheid district, where you cross the road at the Gerg holiday apartment and continue following the path along the Murbach westward. At a fork, keep right and thus reach the (only open in winter) Milchhäusl.

From there you can now (if the grass is not high and dry) follow the ski piste clearings or the switchbacks of a cart track westward to the basin of the Kotalm. Continue a bit further west, then at the saddle west of the Kotiger Stein keep right at the fork and reach the Brauneckalm, from where it is just a stone's throw to the Brauneck cable car mountain station and from there to the Brauneck summit house and the Brauneck summit above it.
