Circular hike Pointe d'Angolon
The starting point of the route is the parking lot at Col de Joux Plane at around 1,700 meters - about 1,000 meters above Samoens. We first head south, then choose a steep path that is not easy to find leading to Pointe de Chamossière (1,889 m). Already here, a magnificent panorama opens with Mont Blanc to the south and the Swiss mountain ranges to the east. We were lucky to observe a good dozen griffon vultures from here. The terrain descends steeply to the east. On a partly exposed ridge, the route continues northwards to the summit of Pointe d'Angolon (2,090 m). From there, a beautiful narrow path leads downhill with views of Pointe de Nyon (2,019 m) to a small lake (Nyon du Crot), surrounded by cow pastures. Over a wooded mountain ridge, the path goes upwards to the south, we cross the cable car and reach Lac de Joux Plane, from where we can already see our parking lot again.
Notes:
- The route is manageable with older children and teenagers, but mountain experience and endurance are required.
- The parking lot is unpaved, but spacious and free of charge (status 6/2025).
