Cima Tosa (3136 m)

After the melting of the summit glacier, Cima Tosa is today the second highest peak of the Brenta group, after the 3151-meter high Cima Brenta. Its broad, flat summit plateau forms a striking contrast to the pointed, rugged towers that characterize the Dolomiti di Brenta landscape and allows it to appear as the dominant mountain in the group. It is no wonder that it is still called "La Regina della Brenta" – the queen of the Brenta. The name "Tosa" probably comes from Ladin and means "woman" or "girl". Despite losing its status as the highest peak of the group, Cima Tosa is climbed much more often than Cima Brenta. This is mainly due to the easier and shorter ascent (II+) and the proximity to Rifugio Tosa Pedrotti, which serves as an excellent base. The difficulties of the "Via Normale dei Camini" are limited to a roughly 50-meter high wall well-equipped with bolts and rappel stations.
