From the parking area, we will head out to the road that goes up towards Escuaín, which we will follow until taking the turnoff to the road leading to Bestué. A few meters later, on the right side of the road, a path runs alongside a stone wall, which we will follow.
A partly paved path, used in summer to take livestock to the mountain pastures and also for the evacuation of logging and charcoal-making work.
The path leaves to our left a turnoff that would lead to the Belsué road, and continues until crossing the so-called Prado del Cura, to enter again into the forest gaining altitude, until reaching the walls of Castillo Mayor. It starts to separate from the rocky walls on the left and reaches the Llanos del Castillo Mayor, from where we will follow the direction of the cairns, which will lead us to the summit.
The return route will be done following the same path, in reverse direction.

Directions
The valley of Puértolas in the Sobrarbe region unfolds in a spectacular setting of the Pyrenean mountain range that precedes the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. It follows the Bellos river along its course until its confluence with the Cinca at the height of Escalona. The valley is surrounded by some of the most imposing massifs of the Pyrenees whose heights reach around 3,000 m.
Access to the Puértolas valley is from the town of Ainsa via the A-138 road, which runs through the Cinca river valley towards France, through Bielsa.
Puértolas is located on the narrow road that connects Escalona with Escuaín. At the roundabout exiting Escalona, we will take the access road to the Añisclo valley, which we will leave shortly afterwards at the next roundabout, to continue along the Puértolas road for approximately 8 km.
Parking
Almost at the end of the village, past the Torre de La Carcel, or at the exit, next to the narrow road.Coordinates
