Mostly an easy hike on marked trails. Caution! From Foce d' Orto no markings anymore - cairns indicate the way here. On the ascent through the steep, partly overgrown couloir, climbing sections up to difficulty 1+ must be overcome. Anyone having problems here should also use the normal route (green marking) for the ascent.Roadbook
From the football pitch, first follow the stream and climb up to the fork at Bocca di Piazza. Continue right and after 5 minutes at the next fork continue right, marked in orange, and over the Fontaine de Piazza Moninca up to the Foce d' Orto saddle. From there, go left and follow the cairns to a steep couloir that ascends to the right. Climb up this in a pleasant scramble (1+). Continue on top, always following the cairns to a plateau where you meet the normal route to the summit. Follow this more or less directly up to the summit of Capu d' Orto. Descend via the marked normal route down to Bocca di Piazza. Do not continue descending on the approach path but go right higher and along the ridge with beautiful views down to a chestnut wood, and from there back to the football pitch.
