Brecherspitze and Bodenschneid
Difficult mountain route (T4) from Spitzingsattel over the Brecherspitze and Bodenschneid to Enterrottach.
From Spitzingsattel, we ascend over the east shoulder to the Brecherspitze. This ascent is rated T4 and therefore reserved for climbers with sure-footedness and confidence at heights. Over the west ridge, it then goes partly with wire rope protection to the west summit and down to the Obere Firstalm. Another ascent takes us over the Suttenstein viewpoint to the Brecherspitze. From here, a mountain path leads over the Bodenalm down to the bus stop at the toll station Enterrottach.
Author’s recommendation
For climbers who are not capable of difficulty T4:
You can also reach the Obere Firstalm directly from Spitzingsattel on the Trautweinweg, which is a toboggan run in winter, and thus soften the route and usually undertake it all year round. Even without the east ridge of the Brecherspitze summit, the crossing from Spitzingsee to the Tegernsee valley is a worthwhile hike.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Safety information
The east shoulder of the Brecherspitze must not be underestimated. There are sections of difficulty T4. Therefore, do not go when wet or snowy.
Roadbook
Directly at the Spitzingsattel, you leave the driveway at the barrier of the Trautweinweg to the Obere Firstalm by turning right into the forest and find unmarked traces leading over the east shoulder to the Brecherspitze. The key section is overcoming a rock ledge, which is crossed without protection on ledges and rock steps. After that, you continue on clear traces uphill to the summit cross. At the junction with the north ridge path, an old green sign with the inscription "No descent, life danger" impressively points to the alpine dangers of our ascent route. In summer 2023, a climber died here during the descent.
From the summit of the Brecherspitze, a marked path secured with wire ropes at exposed sections now leads over the west ridge to the wet summit of the Brecherspitze. From here, the mountain path leads down the former ski slope to the managed Obere Firstalm. After a few meters of descent down to the Untere Firstalm, we climb gently terrain to the Suttenstein viewpoint, from which we can see into the Rottach valley for the first time. Along the south shoulder, the path now leads uphill to the Bodenschneid with the large summit cross.
For the descent, we choose the path down the west flank to the unmanaged Bodenalm and then descend on the marked path as indicated by the signs to the bus stop at the toll station Enterrottach. From here, the bus ride is covered by the Deutschlandticket and Bayernticket. Those who descend to the Sutten or Monialm bus stops must pay the toll fee on the bus.
