The short approach to the summit plateau is steep and almost pathless.Roadbook
We follow the forest road to the left steeply upwards through the densely wooded south flank. Soon the road narrows into a hollow way. At the southern ridge the path branches, we follow the right hiking trail into the west flank until it disappears. To the right we climb steeply in the steep forest on a narrow, somewhat unpleasant path marked by stone cairns up to the clear-cut summit plateau. Through the cleared branches we aim pathlessly for the mountain summit in a northeast direction. At the "South" summit there is a round timber floor with two chopping block chairs. The northern summit with a small stone cairn is reached pathlessly through undergrowth and offers a beautiful panoramic view (Göllstock, Watzmann and Hochkalter, Untersberg south face, Osterhorn group).
Descent along the ascent or:
From the north summit back to the small hut in the intermediate saddle. Here follow a cart track northwards downhill to the forest edge. Now stone cairns point to the right down the steep north flank. A good hiking trail leads unmarked through the partly craggy steep forest flank down near the visible farmsteads. We follow the paved access road at the junction to the right, past a chapel in a wide right turn down to the Scheffauerstraße and walk along the roadside back to the starting point.
