Around Croda da Lago

We leave the car at the parking lot by the SP 638 road, leading from Selva di Cadore to Cortina d'Ampezzo. We start on route 437, cross the streams Ru Curto and Ra Coteana, go through the forest for about 2 km until we reach the crossroads, Cason de Formin, where we turn right and continue on route 425. We will climb about 1.5 km through the valley until we reach open terrain, where we will be able to admire the massiveness of the ridge towering above us. We will continue climbing through this terrain for another 2.5 km until we reach the pass Forcella Rossa (2337 m). From here we descend about 200 vertical meters through a scree field and join route 434, along which we reach the Rifugio Croda da Lago hut in about 1.5 km. Along the way, we can enjoy views of the Lago Federa lake. Here we can refresh/rest. We continue back along route 434 until the Cason de Formin crossroads (about 2.5 km), then continue on route 437, along which we reach the parking lot in about 2 km.
