However, due to the consistently south-facing location, do not start ascending to the wonderfully situated hut at midday on sunny summer days.

    Author’s recommendation

In the following days, a circular route to the Stuttgarter and Ulmer Hut is recommended, from where you can then descend again towards St. Jakob.

    Roadbook

In the district of Gand, follow the "Obergander Weg" northwest and then continue along the "Jakobusweg" along the edge of the forest to the west. Soon, the signposted ascent to Putzenalm and the Leutkircher Hut branches off to the right, leading slightly steeper uphill through light forest. The path crosses a forest road twice and continues north up to the Putzenalm rest stop. There you meet an alpine road, which you follow a good stretch to the west until the further ascent to the Leutkircher Hut branches off to the right again.

It initially goes over lightly wooded forest slopes, then through the dwarf pine zone into alpine meadow terrain. Here the path crosses northwestward ascending, makes a right turn, and finally leads directly north uphill again. In a final crossing to the left, you finally reach the beautifully situated Leutkircher Hut.
