From the furthest of the many parking lots, continue south, cross the stream on a bridge and immediately turn left. The mountain path now ascends gently along the stream through lightly wooded terrain and later overcomes an initial steep section in quite large switchbacks.
Then the path crosses flatter above the stream almost up to the road, turns right again and leads up another steeper slope in many small switchbacks until it reaches a terrace. This is the glacial polish edge of the Fernau Glacier, through which the Fernau Creek has cut deeply. From here, the Dresdner Hut is already visible.
