Crossing of the Hochgrat from Gunzesried - Säge via Alpe Gund to Immenstadt
The start is with the bus ride from Blaichach station or Sonthofen station to Gunzesried-Säge (end bus stop). There you reach the so-called ladder of the Allgäu hiking trilogy. From the start at the end bus stop, you go a few meters along Autalweg into the valley to the ascent path to the Hochgrat, which is crossed at 1,628 m between Stuiben (1,749 m) and Steineberg (1,669 m). Beyond it goes down to Alpe Gund along the rock walls of the Hochgrat. As a detour, with surefootedness and no fear of heights, the crossing of Stuiben would still be possible.
After resting at the Alpe Gund (1,502 m), the usual hut ascent via Steinbachtobel or the detour via Alpe Mittelberg leads down to Immenstadt.

Roadbook
At the beginning of the public transport route is the bus ride from Blaichach station or Sonthofen station to Gunzesried-Säge (end bus stop). There you reach the so-called ladder of the Allgäu hiking trilogy. From the start at the end bus stop, you go a few meters along Autalweg into the valley to the ascent path at the village end crossing the Gunzesried brook, from there over the Alpe Vorderschönbuch to Alpe Wiesach with a small chapel in a half-hour climb (marked red by the Alpine Club Kempten).
From Alpe Wiesach the ascent first follows a path, then a steep forestry road to the Sommerhausalpe with its beautiful maple trees. There at the new hut is the last water point. Along the Rauhe Schlucht, numerous altitude meters are now climbed, marked red and partially blue, to the Hochgrat, which is reached at 1,628 m between Stuiben (1,749 m) and Steineberg (1,669 m). Beyond that, it then goes down in 20 minutes to the Alpe Gund. This is therefore a crossing. With the Gundesattel, it is also the way to stage 12 of the Wasserläufer and stage 9 of the Himmelstürmer routes. Now, in addition to the red, the blue Allgäu trilogy marking is added. As a detour, the crossing of Stuiben (surefootedness and no fear of heights on the ascent) would still be possible.
After resting at Alpe Gund (1,502 m), drivers should best return the same way to the parking lot at Gunzesried-Säge, public transport users can take the usual hut ascent via the Steinbachtobel or the detour via Alpe Mittelberg as a descent. On the descent along my track through the Steigbachtal, you pass a small waterfall, a nice rest area, and a viewpoint towards Immenstadt before reaching the paved road to Alpe Mittelberg. The next stations are a fountain and Alpe Seifenmoos; at the wooden chapel, you must decide whether to descend through the Steigbachtobel or the western road. After the constructions following the landslide from the Immenstädter Horn, the barrier and Immenstadt cemetery are reached. It is then not far to Immenstadt station for the return journey.
