Access Mindelheimer Hütte from Birgsau

Just a few meters from the Birgsau bus stop, you cross the Stillach on a bridge and hike past the somewhat hidden
Finkenalpe on alpine pastures, where the path still leads uphill along a scenic forest edge. The ascent quickly gets steeper and more demanding in dense bushes. Varied, you gain altitude rapidly over a scree field, along the slope of a mountain, and through dwarf pine terrain.

At around 1400 m, the trail turns south and reaches in increasingly open terrain the ledge of the so-called Scheidbichl (1511 m). Another small ascent continues past the small Guggersee, where a break is recommended.

From now on, you walk almost always at the same level further southwest, passing the ruined Vorderen Taufersbergalpe. Always following path 442 (also Via Alpina), you cross the basin of the Roßkund in a curve and after a short climb later reach the junction of the hut connecting trail from Fidererpasshütte to Mindelheimer Hütte. Together, you continue in the same direction. From now on, there are hardly any more altitude meters to master until you finally reach the beautifully located Mindelheimer Hütte.
