First, follow the forest road towards Marschnellalm until the first hairpin bend, where the hiking path No. 10 branches off to the left at the barrier. The wide forest road leads almost flat up to the Marschnellbach, where the actual hiking trail ascends relatively steeply. Always along the brook, you will first reach another forest road, which you cross before finally reaching the Schweinsteig Hut (2128 m) (approx. 1.5 hours). Crossing the brook, you soon arrive at the managed Marschnellalm (2212 m). From there, the path initially goes moderately, then increasingly steeply over grassy and rocky slopes to a saddle. Leaving the last steep ramp around the mountain behind, you eventually reach the Peilstein (2542 m) after just under three hours, whose wooden cross stands at a slightly lower spot and is clearly visible from St. Walburg. The descent follows the ascent route.
