From the Sunnbüel valley station, the route starts along the young and wild Kander. The path is steep at the beginning; you might want to take it easy. The section on the road ends after a few meters, then the hiking trail leads pleasantly flat for a short time through the Gasterntal, time to enjoy. Shortly after, the path steadily but fairly climbs higher, with the view of the Gasterntal getting better and better. After countless hairpin bends, there are short sections with chains including a ladder before you go through a small tunnel and walk flat again for a while. On the other side of the Schwarzbach, the path continues uphill through lots of greenery. At the road on top, there are 2 options: either left over the Spittelmatte more or less directly to Sunnbüel, or right to the Stock to enjoy the low view into the Gasterntal again.
