3000-meter peak - To Piz Umbrail
The tour to Piz Umbrail (3,033 m) is one of the most impressive high alpine hikes in the border area between Val Müstair and the Ortler group. The ascent from the Umbrail Pass already passes historic First World War positions and offers magnificent views. The summit fascinates with an overwhelming panorama – from the Bernina group over the Silvretta to the Ötztal Alps and the Ortler massif. The subsequent descent leads over wide plateaus and increasingly varied terrain to the turquoise Lai da Rims, one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the region. Then it continues through alpine landscapes with rock formations, waterfalls, and larch pine forests down to the quiet Val Mora and further towards Sta. Maria. A demanding, scenically outstanding tour for sure-footed mountain hikers.
