From Drips&Drops, the route leads over the Sattelbauer towards Zauchensee. The tour follows the same route back to the Sattelbauer and via the Stoneman Trail back to the hotel.

The tour starts directly at Dips&Drops and leads into the first climb of the day without a long roll-in phase. Up to the Sattelbauer, around 400 meters in altitude are covered on the road. As the altitude increases, beautiful views of Altenmarkt, Flachau and the surrounding mountains open up again and again. At Sattelbauer, it is worth making a short stop to catch your breath or refill your water bottles before the route leads back down the other side towards Zauchenseestraße.

This is followed by a particularly beautiful section along the Zauchbach stream. A gravel path runs parallel to the road, which continues steadily uphill for a further 380 meters in altitude to Zauchensee. Once at the top, the view of Zauchensee, the small ski resort and the surrounding peaks opens up. Several restaurants and huts in Zauchensee invite you to take a break.

Back in the valley, the final challenge awaits with another ascent to Sattelbauer. Afterwards, the Stoneman Trail (S2) with roots, rocks and flowing passages makes for a perfect finish back to Dips&Drops.

    Safety information

As everywhere in Austria, biking is only permitted on explicitly marked trails and the road traffic regulations also apply on forest roads. Children up to the age of 12 are legally obliged to wear a helmet. However, it is generally recommended that everyone on a bike always wears a helmet.

    Tips and suggestions

Dips&Drops has its own mountain bike rental shop with a large selection of traditional (organic) MTBs and e-bikes. The store offers an exquisite selection of high-quality items (MTB clothing, helmets, gloves, protectors, tools) for purchase. The hotel offers tours and MTB technique training with trained guides, which external guests can also take part in.

    Equipment

As on any bike tour, a few basic items of equipment are recommended. A rucksack or a small saddle bag for a change of shirt, a rain jacket, a pump, a small bike tool, a patch kit, some cash and possibly a bar/snacks. A bottle of water is of course always a must, as well as some sunscreen (especially in high summer).
