Route accessible to electric mountain bikes (VTTAE) with no change in difficulty (stays blue)Before setting off, we recommend reading the section Tips for hikers, equipping yourself properly, wearing a helmet, checking the condition of your bike, taking provisions and repair equipment (puncture kit, quick link, hex keys…), consulting the weather forecast, and carrying a charged phone. In any case, do not overestimate your strength and do not venture onto a trail that is too technical for you. Know when to give up, turn back, or get off your bike.
In Jura, mountain bike routes use paths and trails on private properties which may also be used for other activities. Please respect the sites by staying on marked trails and respecting other users who have priority (hikers, mountain bikers, riders, but also forestry workers, winegrowers, shepherds, etc.). It is therefore necessary to adapt and control your speed.
Jura is a natural and wild department; please respect the environment you are in: Do not throw any litter, do not make fires, do not pick wild flowers. Respect the peace of livestock and wildlife by keeping away from herds, keeping your dog on a leash, and closing gates behind you. Find out about biotope protection zones, nature reserves or Natura 2000 areas where restrictions apply.
In case of forestry work (felling, logging…), trail maintenance (trail repairs, brush clearing…) or ongoing or battue hunting zones for your safety, be prepared to give up and turn back.
Roadbook
Starting from Place Bichat, follow the direction of the hospital to reach the signpost Rue du Docteur Jean Michel. Head towards the high school for 300 m then turn left at the chapel of the former Carmel. The slope rises steeply to reach the en Chaudon district and the heights of Lons-le-Saunier. Leave the houses by the forest path to the signpost Les Trois Fontaines. Follow the communal road to the right towards VILLENEUVE SOUS PYMONT.
- At VILLENEUVE SOUS PYMONT, take the wide white path leading to the picnic area. Continue towards RD 1083, cross it through the arranged tunnel then reach the wine-growing village of L’Etoile at the signpost La Bascule. Follow the marked trail that climbs towards Montbourgeau castle. Halfway up, at the signpost Mont Muzard turn right on the single track to find L’ETOILE-MAIRIE.
- At L’ETOILE-MAIRIE, head towards Montarbeaux and continue passing near Athénas, a wildlife care centre. Continue on the original path then be sure to take the grassy track turning left going into the forest until the signpost Mont Genezet. Descend carefully to the signpost Cueille (bas) and turn right on a fast descent towards Les Minimes (signpost at the bottom of the descent). Climb back towards the houses to reach PLAINOISEAU.
- At PLAINOISEAU, leave the village passing under RD 1083 and follow the communal road for 2.5 km to Montain. At the central fountain, reach the back of the housing estate then follow the grassy track with panoramic views over the wine-growing villages: Pannessières, Lavigny and Le Vernois. Pass at the foot of the imposing Château du Pin, built in the 13th century, and reach RD 70 at the signpost LE PIN – LE COLOMBIER.
< Château du Pin: possibility to visit the outside of the ramparts, the courtyard, and the inside of the restored square keep. - At LE PIN – LE COLOMBIER, cross RD70 then immediately take the path on the right leading to the mound. Follow left towards the vineyards to reach Cheneviers. Head towards the centre of CHILLE and discover its curiosities: wash house-drinking trough, press, Saint-Michel Chapel.
- At CHILLE, follow the main street towards La Lième then leave it by a descending path at the signpost En Sagard. Take the white path descending to the Solvan stream then follow alongside the campsite before reaching the main road.
