Via Algarviana: from Marmelete to Cabo de São Vicente (Day 5)

This mountain bike journey along the Via Algarviana ends at the Lighthouse of Cabo de São Vicente, the southwesternmost point of Continental Europe. Here you will have breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Via Algarviana is essentially a Long Distance footpath (GR13) for those wishing to explore the interior of the Algarve region, crossing from one end to the other. However, it is also possible to cover the entire route by mountain bike, as described in this route. The Via was mapped over an old religious trail, where pilgrims traveled up to the Promontory of Sagres, an important place during the Age of Discoveries.
