Via Algarviana: from Alcoutim to Vaqueiros (Day 1)
Follow the famous Via Algarviana, which connects Alcoutim to Cabo de São Vicente, covering a distance of 300km, in 5 days of mountain biking.
The Via Algarviana is essentially a long-distance hiking route (GR13) for those who want to explore the interior of the Algarve region, crossing it from one end to the other. However, it is also possible to complete the entire route by mountain bike, as described in this route. The Via was laid out over an ancient religious trail, where pilgrims used to travel this path to the Promontory of Sagres, an important place during the Age of Discoveries. Day 1 of this route starts in the village of Alcoutim, by the Guadiana River, and continues to Vaqueiros.
