On this part of the Stoneman, joy and sorrow lie close together: gigantic panoramas and extremely exhausting carrying sections, loose downhills and steep uphills, lonely alpine pastures, and energy-draining forest roads. The whole is rewarded with two peaks that lay the Alps at your feet.
The very first ascent is tough, as it means pushing the bike for one kilometer. The effort is rewarded on the Rossbrand with a first picture-book panorama. A flowing trail and an extremely exhausting uphill later, the panorama changes completely, and a wildly romantic valley accompanies the scenery from Forstau to the Vögeialm. By now, we have well over 1000 meters of altitude gain in our legs, and yet the most strenuous part is still to come. First, a steep forest road up to the Oberhütte and the checkpoint, then all strength must be gathered. Because the roughly 200 vertical meters up to the Seekarscharte require carrying the bike. Those who make it this far and also descend the first challenging 100 meters of rocky terrain can be happy. Most of the altitude is already conquered, and the way back to the starting point even promises a long coasting section along the idyllic Zauchenbach.
