Singletrail Challenge 2019. The big mountain bike event in Hinterthurgau / Tanzapfenland. The best singletrails connected as a challenge route. The short, steep climbs are followed by technically demanding singletrail descents. Brilliant connecting paths from trail to trail complete the enjoyment.

    1. Climb from Hatterschwil along the Flitzerwägli to Rengerswil. Then descent alti Schuel Bichelsee.

    2. Climb from Bichelsee over the old road to Brenngrüti and further to Wolfsgrueb. Now follows the difficult ridge path to Chabishaupt. Down to Bichelsee via the Burghalde Trail (drop down).

    3. Climb from Bichelsee on the other side of the valley below Loh and further to Haselberg City. The upper part of the descent from Haselberg is peppered with technical highlights. From the entrance to the Polenweg the trail becomes flowy.

    4. Climb over forest paths first towards Rüetschberg, later along a romantic brook path to Tiefenstein. On the right there would be a stopping option at Restaurant Schauenberg. However, we turn left to Huggenberg and from there moderately uphill to Ebeni. In winter there is an excellent cross-country ski trail there. For about 50 m of MTB Route 33 then follow left into the forest, follow the singletrail to Höchegg. The now following Palm Sunday trail is very steep at the beginning but very well rideable when dry. At some point the trail spits you out of the forest and after a short meadow crossing you find yourself on an asphalt path. The next destination Neubrunn lies on the other side of the main road.

    5. The climb from Neubrunn (stopping options at Tulpenbaum and Rest. Krone) to Leerüti is moderate and rolls well. Now it becomes steep up to 22% for a short time. Further to Wolfsgrueb. We have been at this point once before. Now flowy further past the entrance alti Schuel Balterswil and continue following the flat road to Niederwies. The Tannegger ridge requires excellent riding skills. The narrow ridge also requires very good surefootedness and concentration when pushing. The trail spits us back into civilization at the district of Tannegg.

    6. From Fischingen follows the very long climb to Groot, the highest point in the canton of Thurgau. First on the asphalt road past Beeribauer in Neuschür and further towards Otenegg. At a sharp left turn we leave the wide path and take a forest path that leads us directly to Höll. Further on winding paths to Holenstein. After another very steep gravel path section we turn onto the hiking trail to Groot. The first meters are still rideable, then pushing and carrying sections follow. On Groot we have reached the roof of the tour. The descent is repeatedly peppered with tricky hairpin bends, but otherwise absolutely flowy and fun. Soon a fork leads left to Höll. But we choose the trail straight ahead, always following the fall line towards Höllbach. At the end of the trail we reach the Kontaon Road Fischingen - Mühlrüti.

    7. From Fischingen climb over forest roads to the Vita Parcours. Now follows the fun descent Forsthof. Attention occasionally brake, some left turns are tighter than you think.

    8. The last climb to Hunzenberg is very pleasant and varied. The descent from Hunzenberg is just excellent.

    9. Back via Anwil - Wietzikon - Büfelden past Ziegeleiweiher to the Stockenholz hut in Eschlikon.

All done - you have passed the challenge and can pat yourself on the shoulder.
