Mountain bike route 5c Speyerbrunn (short route)
Short mountain bike route through the Palatinate Forest
This short mountain bike route starts in Speyerbrunn. Right at the start, our route features short trail sections that are relatively easy to ride.
Only slightly ascending, it continues varied along the Erlenbach, past the Ritterstein No. 93 “Hexlerhütte” to the quaint village of Erlenbach.
Then we bike leisurely but steadily ascending in a varied manner, partly on wide forest roads and also on short trail sections to Johanniskreuz.
There is an opportunity to interrupt the route and take a longer break there. Especially the House of Sustainability with its adjacent small shop offering typical Palatinate products also invites you to shop.
Then we ride on a flowing long trail. It runs wonderfully through the dense forest. This typical Palatinate Forest trail extends nicely and does not present any danger spots. Now we reach Johanniskreuzer Straße, which we follow briefly before turning off again into the terrain. The route continues with gentle waves, first on a forest road and then again on a narrow path back to our starting point in Speyerbrunn.
OUR PATHFINDER RULES
“Out of everyday life – into nature!” A few basic rules help make the MTB route a sustainable experience for people and nature.
- Ride only on permitted paths. According to the Rhineland-Palatinate Forestry Act, cycling on footpaths and trails is not allowed, except for the trails on our routes.
- Leave no traces. Take your rubbish home with you and protect our trails by your riding style. Avoid braking with blocked tires. Do not shortcut hairpin bends.
- Keep your bike under control. Stay in your comfort zone, adapt your speed to the situation, and be able to stop within sight! Do not underestimate the technical and fitness demands of our routes. Inform yourself in advance.
- Respect other path users. Announce your arrival in good time, preferably with our pathfinder bell! Do not ride on certified hiking trails. Be considerate of paths shared by hikers and mountain bikers. Hikers have priority. Let other path users pass.
- Respect animals in the forest. We move in their habitat. Give them peace and do not disturb them while feeding. Therefore, avoid rides at dusk or night.
- Do not build illegal trails. Use existing, approved routes and courses.
- Be a role model. Show by your behavior how mutual consideration works and that it leads to good coexistence for all forest users. Help by following these rules.
These rules are based on the Trail Rules of the German Mountainbike Initiative (www.dimb.de) and the campaign #LoveTrailsRespectRules of the Bike magazine.
