Mountain bike route 3a Schopp (short route)
We find wonderful valleys and secluded paths on this mountain bike route
After our starting point at the train station in Schopp, the route climbs to the Radstadion Schopp. Here we enter the forest to then quickly descend steeply to the Naturfreundehaus Finsterbrunnertal. We cross the L500 and enjoy a flowy trail to the Walzwerk. After crossing the B270 (caution!) we ride idyllically through the so-called Hammertal and Schweinstal. Steadily uphill we now ride on a wide path. Then a short section of trail downhill follows. The trail has no major difficulties, the surface mostly grippy with few roots. Then the following road takes us to Queidersbach. Here we can take a break; some nice spots with tables and benches invite you to linger. We then continue uphill again on a beautiful path through the dense Pfälzerwald. West of the town of Krickenbach we now pass the Bohlenhof and Ländlehof towards Eichköpfchen. Now follows a nice trail that challenges our riding skills. Narrow and often covered with leaves, it leads downhill. Especially when wet, one should consciously keep speed low here. At the bottom of the valley, we ride along the Moosalb and later on tarmac up to Schopp. Via a forest road and a trail descent we go to the Pfälzerwald hut Schmalenberg. The hut is not open daily, but seating for a rest can be used. Then follows a longer climb below the Hardterkopf. We cross district road 29 to come back above Schopp to the Radstadion and then return to the train station.
