Right through the Palatinate Forest with opportunities to stop at some Palatinate Forest huts located directly on the route. Flowing trails and the Zigeunerfelsen shape this route.

Starting above the small, tranquil village of Langmühle. Initially, slightly ascending on a wide path, ideal for warming up, we move upwards. Then it goes sharply right onto a steep ramp, and after a short, tough climb, we descend left on a trail. At the bottom, past the shelter, we continue on a wide path and then on a side road, before turning left into the forest again. After the sports field, there is another trail descent, then on a wide path to the forest house “Drei Buchen”. Here you can stop for a break—Palatinate specialties should not be missed. Refreshed, we continue after a short ride on a forest road turning right onto a long flowing trail to the village of Glashütte. After crossing the main road, another trail section follows before we ride uphill for a while with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. After this climb, it leads into a serpent trail. The hairpin turns are quite easy, the radius rather wide, making it fun on the wide path, which we then follow downwards. The next ascent takes us to the hut “Hohe List”, where another break is possible. Then we bike a fast descent on a forest track. The following ascent leads us directly past the Zigeunerfelsen. A short stop is worthwhile; the bizarre rock formation offers a wonderful backdrop for a photo. Then we take the next descent to a side road, which we follow before turning left into the forest again. After this small detour, we are back on the well-known side road; the last turn right first leads us on an uphill trail and then on a nice descent down. Now we bike along the country road again and pass through the terrain one last time before returning to the starting point.

    OUR PATHFINDER RULES

“Out of everyday life – into nature!” A few basic rules help ensure that the MTB tour can become a sustainable experience for people and nature.

    1. Only ride on allowed paths. According to the Rhineland-Palatinate forest law, cycling on footpaths and hiking trails is not permitted, except for the trails on our tours.
    2. Leave no traces. Take your rubbish home and protect our trails through your riding style. Avoid braking with locked wheels. Do not shorten hairpin turns.
    3. Keep your bike under control. Stay in your comfort zone, adjust your speed to the situation, you must be able to stop within sight! Do not underestimate the technical and physical demands of our tours. Inform yourself in advance.
    4. Respect other path users. Announce your arrival in good time, preferably with our pathfinder bell! Do not ride on certified hiking trails. Be considerate on paths used by hikers and mountain bikers together. Hikers have priority. Let others pass.
    5. Be considerate of animals in the forest. We share their habitat. Give them peace and do not disturb them while feeding. Therefore, avoid riding at dusk or at night.
    6. Do not build illegal trails. Use existing, approved routes and courses.
    7. Be a role model. Show by your behaviour how mutual consideration works and that it leads to good coexistence for all forest users. Help by living these rules.

These rules are based on the Trail Rules of the German Mountainbike Initiative (www.dimb.de) and the campaign #LoveTrailsRespectRules by the Bike magazine.
