The Mendelsteig descends steeply from Mendelpass down to St. Nikolaus.
The start of the route to the Mendel or to the Mendelsteig is at Hotel Arndt in Tramin. On the St. Valentin path to the Höllentalbach, then up towards Söll and further to Altenburg. From there, always along the road towards St. Anton and past the valley station. On the main road, turn left towards until you reach the Mendelpass road. Up many hairpin bends to the . From the pass, down the Mendelsteig and trail 521 to St. Nikolaus near Kaltern. From there, back the same way to Tramin.
